Quicksand - Slip

Photobucket

From: USA
Year: 1993
Genre: Post-Hardcore

Ok so I’m gonna try to start posting on a regular basis again. I had a rough few weeks. Lost an old friend. Junior year in high school I bought this album on cassette and we used to pump it while driving around in his moms SUV. That was before he sunk it in a mud pit while 4 wheeling. This is one of the greatest post-hardcore albums ever recorded, if not the greatest and one of my favorite albums of all time. Discordant yet melodic, incredibly memorable, well-written songs are what you get here, topped off by Walter Schreifels awesome voice and lyrics. It’s mainly mid-tempo hardcore with heavy use of harmonics and feedback. Kinda like a mixture of Helmet and Fugazi. Poignant and intense, albums like this just don’t come around very often. Members served time in other classic hardcore bands like Bold, Gorilla Biscuits and Youth of Today. They never received the credit or popularity they deserved but ended up influencing an entire generation of bands including Deftones and At the Drive In, to name a few. Simply a classic.
