The Iceburn Collective began as a “post-hardcore” band formed in 1991 known simply as Iceburn. Although some of the musical pieces were already in place on their first album, by the time this recording came to fruition they had evolved into an entirely different beast, seamlessly blending elements of Post-Hardcore/Metal/Jazz/Classical and Progressive Rock into a very unique whole. The music ebbs and flows between heavy groove and almost ethereal meditations on silence and sound. It’s best listened to continuously from beginning to end as a 70 minute-plus musical palindrome. The main focus of the band was the guitar playing of composer Gentry Densley, who later went on to form Eagle Twin and Ascend, which sounds like a cross between Sonny Sharrock and Tony Iommi.
