As the opening track of “Composition of Flesh” rips through you like a bone machine grinding flesh into mortar paste your first reaction might be “ahhh more Swedish death metal.” But you’d be dead wrong. Corrosive Carcass obviously love their share of early Entombed and Dismember albums but ultimately their debut album is a rotting corpse filled cauldron of both old school Swedish AND U.S. death metal, particularly Autopsy and early Death. The songs are all well written, rhythmically diverse and catchy as hell, listen to “Butchershop” a few times and see if you’re not reciting the opening lyrics to yourself for days afterwards. Overall a great “old school” DM album that stands far above a large majority of the clones out there today.
