Everything Went Black - Cycles of Light

Photobucket

From: USA
Year: 2012
Genre: Hardcore

Although Everything Went Black play a dark and metallic version of hardcore, their sonic palette is splattered with just enough color to keep things from getting monochromatic. The bile spitting rage is usually balanced by a melodic undercurrent, but as soon as you start to fall under the spell of some insidiously hypnotic melancholy, like during the bridge in "Kingdoms" or the string outro in "Parades", they smash you between the eyes with rampant punk-fueled rage, a sludgy breakdown or mid-tempo dissonance to keep you from getting too comfortable. Like the unholy offspring of Entombed, The Hope Conspiracy and Black Flag, this isn't tough guy hardcore by any means so if thats what you're looking for go listen to Earth Crisis or some shit. I'm gonna watch Breaking Bad.
